We still have a few opportunities left for people who would like to test out the programs and help to make them as good as they can be  ;D

Our Beta testers get free access to the programs and the private forum board(s) for the program(s) they are testing out.

In return they test the programs out in a variety of settings, post any details of problems in our forum and any suggestions they have for alterations, additions or other improvements.

If you'd like to be considered as one of our select band of beta testers please contact us.

Latest News / New Lesson Observation App LORA
« on: February 19, 2015, 08:34:09 PM »

Our latest app LORA takes the hassle out of whole lesson observation and recording.

Inspired by the OPTIC (Observing Pupils and Teachers In Classrooms) research of Merrett and Wheldall, LORA analyses all the behaviours and compares the results for a focus person,  their group, other groups and the whole class.

LORA is really easy to use - just enter the behaviour(s) you are interested in, then observe each group in turn when prompted and tap the screen to record the behaviour.

You can also take notes along the way and LORA automatically adds in the elapsed time and number of the group being observed on each occasion. At the end of your observation, just open the Summary and Notes screens then copy and paste the results into an email, wordprocessor or spreadsheet of your choice!

If you have already signed up to our forum as a *beta tester for CORA then we have already given you access to LORA - this will now appear in your program list when you log in.

If you haven't and you'd  like to help us out with *beta testing, please contact us

There are some sample screenshots below to whet your appetite, and we've uploaded a demonstration/instructional video to our YouTube channel.

Screenshots:
1) Main program screen:

2) Summary output (including analysis of data and Classroom Plan):

3) Notes output screen:

and just in case you haven't worked it out yet, it's Lesson Observation and Recording App  ;D

*BETA TESTING - what does that mean?
Our Beta testers get free access to the programs
.

In return they:
  • test the programs out in a variety of settings
  • post any details of problems in our forum
  • post suggestions in our forum for alterations, additions or other improvements to the programs
so that these programs become as good as they can for all of us!

« on: December 13, 2014, 07:06:23 PM »
Just setting up a new Ipad for our team and found that it wouldn't download any of the reports. It seems that this is an issue is with Safari browser needing to have access to a zip file reader.

Simple solution was to download Izip free from the Itunes store- once installed Safari gives you the option of opening it in this package.

CORA / Using CORA OFF LINE
« on: April 18, 2014, 08:21:42 PM »
As people may not always have access to a wireless or 3G connection when carrying out an observation, here are some new, simpler instructions for using CORA off line on your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone:

  • Connect to the page via this forum as usual in a tab on your web browser when you are on line and leave it open.
  • When you go off line you should still be able to use the page in that tab and all the buttons in the page will work as usual, as long as you
    • DON'T try to refresh the window e.g. by pressing F5
    • DON'T use the back button
We've tried this on a range of browsers and hardware and no problems so far, but please post below if you have any!

CORA / Re: What can CORA do for me?
« on: November 02, 2013, 11:44:24 AM »
Quote
Yes CORA is very useful and interesting. I assume you will add other observations? At the moment it seems to be behaviour heavy. However a lot of our work as EP might involve other observational issues (i.e. social communication, purely learning behaviours in various classes etc).

As you say Maj - what I've tried to do with this (and the other programs) at this stage of development is offer a 'shell' with sample content for feedback on the 'shell' itself and also contributions people would like to add to the content (which will be given full acknowledgement of course!).

It is possible to have these in a database for on line use, at the moment I'm trying to make CORA usable both on line and offline from the same web page - not as straightforward as it may sound, as a web 'standard' on different hardware, operating systems and browsers are still some way off being that believe me :)

As a result I want to try and build a good basic set of comments into the page at this point for everyone to use.

If you've got any you'd like me to add it's really easy, just see  this topic.
